An intro to VMware vSphere Big Data Extensions

VMware vSphere Big Data Extensions is not a separate vSphere Edition but a feature of vSphere available in the Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions.

Basically Big Data Extensions is  an easy to use management tool to provision, manage, and monitor your enterprise Hadoop clusters on vSphere through the vCenter user interface.  The new client provides a single management console to enact configuration changes across your cluster, and incorporates reporting and diagnostic tools to help you optimize performance and utilization.

The Big Data plugin works on the vSphere Web client and allows for instance to use a template for deploying several virtual machines which are required in a Hadoop platform.
